This eats the battery. I use
echo -n disk > /sys/power/state
Then I can leave the system unplugged for hours. I can even take the
battery out, and put a fresh one in.
Suspending to memory is a lot faster in coming back up, though.
Obligatory dumb question: what do you do to resume?
