Starting from what started off the original rant:
Ubuntu 6.06 - Installs to firewire. Building a bootcd is feasible from
the LiveCD with persistence. Yaks on installing libgtk2.0-dev.
SuSE 10.1 - Installs to firewire, but initrd image doesn't have firewire
support so I have no means of booting image or creating a bootcd which
can boot the image. Interesting problem, but I really don't feel like
working it out. If someone can point out a way to use the rescue mode
to build a proper initrd for a bootcd, let me know and I'll try again.
Fedora Core 5 - Refuses to recognize firewire drive as install target in
spite of it appearing in dmesg *and* the partition table being read.
Bug 197418 filed.
Debian 3.1r2 Stable - Refuses to recognize firewire drive as install target.
At the end of the day, Ubuntu scores best. SuSE could be a contender if
they would just include the firewire support into the initrd so that I
can make a bootcd from the installed partition.
DeadRat err Fedora and Debian don't even get started.
I may try debian testing if I get bored. Then again, I'm not
particularly enamored with any of the distributions right now.
Side note: Torrents for ISO's *rock*.
