I've been reading a lot about functional programming, lisp, AI, etc in
the last few months. Learning some neat stuff.

And you are left with something both intriguing and scary. My concern is
that since it is so difficult to build such a technology the first
person to come up with it (seemingly destined to be Google) will have a
headstart of potentially many years on the rest of us. What will we do then?
