I recently discovered apt-get in Debian testing has been "upgraded" to use .pdiff files.

If, like my system, an apt-get update now takes 3 or 4 times as long to complete, you can use the following to turn it off.

apt-get update -o Acquire::PDiffs=false

-ajb
