Surprisingly I received a reply from a Digi developer via LKML. It seems they've fixed the driver, but have not released it yet. He said I can e-mail their support center and get a source RPM. So, I filled out their request form and we'll see what happens.
Good luck with it. From what I saw in googling around, it appears to be a fairly straightforward change.
