I got quite a few (well.., some) hits on searches like
  ber_sockbuf_ctrl
or even
  sockbuf.c:91: ber_sockbuf_ctrl: Assertion

Did you see those and find nothing useful, or perhaps do you need to stretch your search-muscles a bit more <grin>?

Anyway, I did see in just a brief glance, some talk about ldap, and also about user access/perms. Do either of these bear on your situation?
