And you know this because? Several of those released were not
combatants (one was nearly 80, some are under 13). What evidence can
you cite that they were captured shooting at our soldiers? Please
provide independant verification, other than what is provided by this
administration.

To further support this. According to the Koppel program last night on Discovery, many of the prisoners were innocent and many that are still being held are innocent. They were (have been) found to have done nothing wrong, but were held without legal representation anyway, and some are still being held.

I'll be worried when US citizens are grabbed up on
US
soil, not charged with anything, and not allowed legal representation.

Been done. Begin to worry.

Because so much of it is secret, how do we know just how many others haven't been grabbed up already and how many will? What if US citizens are grabbed up on foreign soil (by US agencies)?

Further, a Canadian citizen was grabbed up in New York while he was traveling, held and interrogated, not allowed legal representation, was shipped off to Syria, tortured for 18 months (he left Syria at 17 for a reason), was finally released and was able to get back home (to Canada) to his family, and has never received so much as an apology. He says his relationship with his family hasn't been the same since and his family was never even told why he was taken. In fact, the US says they did nothing wrong and followed the law. Probably the law they refer to is the Bush Law (which seems to be "Make it up as you go along.")
