Can you give some clues about "new enough" CPUs? Thanks.
Sure. You need an AMD chip with the virtualization extensions which are
known as SVM or "Pacifica" and can be found on AM2 and F stepping
Opterons. My understanding is that these were released in July.
Or you need an Intel chip with the VT-x extensions. While cruising for
this info I found this nice little writeup:
http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Xen_and_Gentoo#Introduction
The wiki is gentoo specific but the intro is not. Just about every
distro out there has instructions on how to integrate it with xen. I am
confident that in the next couple years (or 10, for debian) you are
going to get xen integrated with your distro out of the box with easy
distro-supported installation of virtual domains.
