My rationale was that the 
Mode: managed
looked wrong to me - but it's just a hunch, because I'm new to this. 
So I quoted the paragraph from the man page that makes me think it's
wrong. 

Seems that the real experts on this think that it can't be changed to
Mode: master
which, according to my limited understanding of the manual, should be
there. 
Maybe you tried this already.
