Bundling or UNE (Unbundled network elements) is a real disservice to the
consumer. We are going to see more broadband services available, which will
hopefully give the consumer more choice.

Subject: RE: Cable vs Phone Co. for Phone Service

I called to cancel my appointment, so I could do further research, but
TW now offered to lower my cable bill by $20.00 a month for a year, if I
try the service. So instead of paying $50.00 for cable modem service,
and $60.00 to AT&T for phone and long distance, it will now be $30.00
for cable modem, and $30.00 for phone with unlimited domestic long
distance ($0.05 a minute to Mexico).

Now the total is $60.00 instead of $110.00. I don't have or want cable
tv, so that doesn't come into the equation. I still think it is much
more than it should / could be, but at least I can pay $50.00 less per
month while I look for alternatives.

Of course one idea is to get rid of the phone altogether, since it seems
that all I get are sales calls anyway.
