Is there a CLI equivalent for the ability of Yumex to list all
packages either installed or not installed from the "repos" you have
configured?

Yes. Just do
$ yum list
and you will get a really long list of the installed packages (same as
rpm -qa) followed by a list of the available packages and which
repository they are found in.

Well that's reason enough right there, Yumex lets you do all that and
read a little bit about the package too...
I have my WPC55AG card running with the MadWifi drivers. It is a little
flaky with its going on and off every few seconds (but not all the time,
some insertions/restarts it doesn't connect intermittently) but the
instructions here:
http://madwifi.org/wiki/UserDocs/WPA_PSK_on_Both_Ends
Led me to kludge together a shell script like so:
#!/bin/sh
#
rm -f /var/run/wpa_supplicant/*
sleep 1
#/sbin/lsmod|grep ath
sleep 1
/sbin/iwconfig ath0 essid "acme" channel 11
/sbin/ifconfig ath0 192.168.31.165 up
/usr/sbin/wpa_supplicant -Bw -Dmadwifi -iath0
-c/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf
sleep 1
/sbin/route add default gw 192.168.31.1 dev ath0
exit 0
I had the WPC55AG card running with MadWifi under FC4 for a brief period
but I took the advice of some HowTo and fiddled with
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-wifi0 and
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ath0. Once I did that no amount of
rollbacks and package reinstalls helped. This time I fiddled with this
one non-system conf file, "/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf",
exactly as indicated and the wireless WPC55AG is up.
I'll have to investigate the info regarding the DHCP issues with both
the MadWifi driver and the WPA Supplicant (see:
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Wpa_supplicant#Installing_wpa_supplicant).
I always use DHCP to get a fixed IP from DHCPd I can control but for now
a fixed IP on the client side will be O.K.
Next it is time to get VMWare back up and running...
I wonder if VMWare guests and hosts can do SMB/NMB/CIFS through the
wireless connection...
I'll post what happens next...
