I always enjoy reading Larry Wall's State of the Onion addresses.
It's not the usual style of slides being an assertion or
re-presentation of what's being given orally.

Some things are best delivered visually, such as charts and graphs, photos
of equipment, etc. Does your talk have anything like that? Then you need
slides.

I'm a visual person, and I love having an outline to hold in my head,
to plot the unfolding of a talk.
