GYach is a version of Yahoo Messenger for Linux.

It seems to work OK for many things but my son
wanted to use the webcam ...

So we have a Pixarts cam that works locally on the
box using the spca5xx module as a driver. We can
launch the webcam using GYach and see that it is
working on our local box.

Unfortunately when we try to broadcast it does not
work. It reports "Broadcast" for a moment then reports
"Paused" Other users of Yahoo Messenger report not
being able to see the cam. I have set the Permissions
menu in the camera controller (a part of GYach) to allow
all users to view ... does not help :(

This is an Ubuntu system. I did try using sudo to
start GYach but that also did not help.

I have run out of tricks. Help!
