Not really, y'all have forgotten IBM back in the old days when they used
to own lead (Pb) mines ...
Google's move is called "vertical integration". Google's profit margin
is *very* sensitive to the price of bandwidth. Having dark fiber is a
good hedge if something happens and bandwidth suddenly becomes scarce.
The most likely scenario would be something caused by Microsoft. The
least likely scenario would be that we all get 100 Mb to the home.
