Sometimes they'll get on the horn and tell you to slow down.

And if you really know your cops, you can (supposedly) ignore the
ones that are out of their jurisdiction.  I figure that cops have
radios, and ought to be talking to one another, but that's just
me being paranoid.

Very important. It's also good to know exactly how much off your
speedometer is...

Those are deliberate, and don't count. Generally, they're doing it
for safety reasons (need to pull a sofa out of the middle of the
highway, etc.) -- and shouldn't count.  :)
