This is NOT "the dog ate my homework." But the fan on the laptop that
was/is to do the April presentation has stopped, and the machine is
shutting itself down.

I took off much of the coders and blew the radiator (for such it has) and
fan out. Much dust. No turn. Much sad.

I have left the radiator cover off, and could put a small desk fan on it.
I _think_ that will get us through April.

I can get a replacement on line in the $32 area, which is cool. I may need
to bring it to an installfest for help in digging that deep into the guts.
I am always loath to force plastic parts.

The Installfest will have to be at "That Technical Bookstore" next Saturday since that's the only one between now and presentation time.

Also, isn't there a panel applet that shows CPU temp? I can't find it.

It depends on your processor and motherboard and the desktop (GNOME, KDE, etc). If you have a Pentium processor, you can usually get the temperature through the /proc file system. On my laptop, which has a Pentium M, I can read the temp by doing:

$ cat /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THRM/temperature
