This month's meeting of the San Diego Tcl/Tk UG will feature a presentation by Kyle Bateman of the open source tool for rapid application development of Enterprise Resource Planning software, WyattERP.
http://www.wyatterp.com/index.html WyattERP is a set of tools that allow rapid design and implenmentation of front end entry modules and back end storage of complex enterprise data, and also facilitate nondestructive control and modification of both front and back ends. I have seen a short demonstration of these tools and they are indeed impressive. Kyle is the primary developer and a current maintainer of WyattERP. He will be presenting from his home in Utah over an internet VPN connection and open phone line. He has used WyattERP to develop an ERP system for his own business and consults with other enterprises in their design and implementations of ERP systems. WyattERP uses Tcl/Tk for the front end screen development and PostgreSQL for the back end database. Screens are easily[0] developed to display and manipulate one-to-many and many-to-many relationships. This presentation should be especially rewarding to anyone interested in: - Tcl/Tk - Database applications - Business software - Open sourcing ERP - Really cool stuff SDTUG meets the third Thursday of each month in the Mission Valley office of the UCSD Extension (see map) from 7 to 9 PM. FOOTNOTES: [0] Look, we all know that "easily" is a relative term. Simple tools lack power. Powerful tools have a learning curve. So let's just say that WyattERP is as simple as you can get and still have all that yummy power. -- Neil Schneider pacneil_at_linuxgeek_dot_net http://www.paccomp.com Key fingerprint = 67F0 E493 FCC0 0A8C 769B 8209 32D7 1DB1 8460 C47D A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining, but wants it back the minute it begins to rain. - Mark Twain -- [email protected] http://www.kernel-panic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kplug-list
