That's because MythDora is hosed. Or at least until version 4.0, which I haven't checked out yet. My installation of KnoppMyth worked first time right off the disc, including allowing other users and computers to access the backend server and database. There is also a lively and informed user base on the wiki for KnoppMyth.
The minimal learning curve for the difference between a Debian based distribution like KnoppMyth vs a Redhat/Fedora based distribution like MythDora is nothing compared to the pain of getting MythDora to work.
