I've always felt that different jobs provided different views and experiences that benefit oneself. If you've never worked at a big firm didn't you ever get afraid you'd miss any kind of experience or training or perspective?
I have consulted for a number of large firms. This was enough for me. Generally, too much.
Note you don't have to work for a biggie forever. Even a few months of dipping your toe in anything gives you a "lay of the land" so to speak.
I can usually get the "lay of the land" in few weeks. That lay of the land is driven by a need for a monthly pay check and the almighty god of an illusory security. This makes people willing to put up with all kinds of things that I have never been able to put up with. It makes many, if not most people, fundamentally dishonest. Every opinion is conditioned by the need for corporate acceptance. The micropolitics consumes everything. There is no larger picture. Get paid at the end of the month. Don't rock the boat. It takes all kinds, including sheep. Lots of sheep. So it goes, BobLQ -- [email protected] http://www.kernel-panic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kplug-list
