I haven't used SWIG and don't know much about it but it does appear to
be a general solution to interfacing any programming language with a
defined foreign function interface with C libraries. I was rather
impressed to see http://www.omnigia.com/scheme/duggfs/ which is a
userspace filesystem interface to Digg implemented using Chicken Scheme
talking to FUSE in Linux using SWIG for the interfacing. An
interestingly bizarre setup IMHO.
Would you care to elaborate on the advantages/disadvantages
of FUSE. I don't really get it.
