Afterthought. I sort of assumed that 8G would be enough for your root
partition. df(1) says you are using 5.5G. Maybe you would not want
to shrink it that much. I try to keep root partitions small by
putting things like /usr and /var and swap in their own partitions.

I shall incorporate that. I noticed that / was a bit awkwardly bloated.
I'm glad I separated /home at least. That alone gives me room to shift
things around.
I think I'm also going to set up a Common partition for accessing
personal files accross platforms, since it would not be a good idea for
/home to be shared between fc4 and fc7 (and ???).
