See $TEMXFVAR/web2c/updmap.cfg. Did you run mktexlsr (or texhash or similar) since installing these font files? Are you working on a system that has both the updmap and updmap-sys variants? If so, running the former won't make the fonts visible to programs running under a different user. -- Steven E.
