Never heard of puppet, and we're fairly entrenched in cfengine at this point, but I'll have to give it a look over. There are some things that are maddeningly difficult to do with cfengine alone, and if puppet does them better (without sacrificing what cfengine does do well at), I may have another project on my hands.
I totally understand about being entrenched which is why I want to make the right choice before I generate hundreds of lines of configs. :) Authentication and access control with cfengine has always been a really annoying problem. It has some non-deterministic behavior to it which bugs me also. I like the idea of converging on the proper configuration but not when it causes weirdness.
All in all, though, I _am_ very happy with cfengine.
Me too. Just wondering if I could be even happier with something else. -- Tracy R Reed Read my blog at http://ultraviolet.org Key fingerprint = D4A8 4860 535C ABF8 BA97 25A6 F4F2 1829 9615 02AD Non-GPG signed mail gets read only if I can find it among the spam. -- [email protected] http://www.kernel-panic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kplug-list
