This is a question as a follow up to Carl's printer presentation at the
last meeting...

If a printer has a ".ppd" file is there any reason to try to figure out
how to install it with the CUPS "wizard" instead of doing this:
sudo lpadmin -p minolta -v lpd://172.17.77.44/print -D "Minolta copier"
-P EF4M5A22.PPD

I don't think I am missing out on any features by doing the install in
this manner, am I??

Only the luxury (if desired) of having a GUI application do the work
for you. If you look carefully you will see that lpadmin is a
command-line entry into CUPS.
