Job #: 1120ANR Position Title: Linux System Administrator Position Type: Full-Time Location: San Jose, CA Salary: $95,000 - $105,000 depending on experience Job Description: The Linux System Administrator will be responsible for defining, setting up, monitoring and improving the system architecture, application environments and operations processes to provide a secure, high-availability, efficient hosted production environment for our client's popular on-demand services. In this role, you will have an opportunity to fully utilize latest SOA, Linux, J2EE, and XML, Web Services, and Oracle technologies (10g with portioning and high availability). Responsibilities: · Define metrics and approaches for monitoring performance, availability and resource usage of our on-demand applications · Provide day-to-day management of multiple production, staging and development environments and 7x24 oncall support · Work with our engineering team and managed infrastructure and services provider to define system and application architecture for production, staging and development. · Set up and manage environments and servers for development, staging, sales and training (Oracle, Linux, JBOSS, and web services) · Work closely with our managed infrastructure and services provider to troubleshoot application and environment issues and ensure that system availability, performance and other services level of agreements be met. · Interact with Customer Support and Engineering regularly to resolve application issues and customer issues · Test and deploy new application releases and patches. Required Skills: · 4+ years of system/network administration in Linux/Unix environment · Excellent knowledge and experience in Linux, Apache, JBoss, shell scripts, load balancers, network routing protocols, and firewalls · Knowledge of SaaS or on-demand environment a plus · Hands-on experience with Oracle and SQL · Able to build metrics and tools to track application and database availability, performance and job status · Knowledge of software development, QA and release processes · Experience with ERP, CRM and other enterprise applications a plus · Positive attitude and willingness to work a flexible schedule and play multiple roles in a start-up environment -- *********************************************************************** * John Oliver http://www.john-oliver.net/ * * * *********************************************************************** -- [email protected] http://www.kernel-panic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kplug-list
