How did this happen with nobody in KPLUG finding out about it until halfway through the first phase? This effort must have started many months ago.

That's easy. If you are shoving through a Linux initiative and you have any political sense, you are going push it through *very* quietly and try to hide your name.

Otherwise, the Microsoft Gestapo will show up at your door ASAP.

Who is the key Linux enthusiast with the district's ear pushing this through? Can we get him to talk at a meeting about how he did it?

Given that it just went public, we need to find out who he is. He's about to need help against Microsoft.

LUG's often want to help out with implementing Linux in schools but are almost always stonewalled for various reasons. Since this whole thing has happened without us I am wondering if they would even want our help at all.

They are probably about to need it differently than we are used to.

They are about to need people to stand up at board meetings to oppose the Microsoft lobbyists.

Those of us in the San Diego Unified School District probably need to start monitoring school board meetings.
