For years, I would just add routes to /etc/rc.d/rc.local and that worked just fine.
I've discovered, though, that restarting the network service clears the roputing table, and obviously does not re-read /etc/rc.d/rc.local Googling led me to mentions of /etc/sysconfig/static-routes I found references to the format for that file and created it, but my routes still are not brought back when the network service restarts.
