It is not present in the yum (v2.2.2) that is the latest available for
Fedora Core 3.

This is exactly what I was looking for. I want the dependencies resolved
for the package on the MythDora distribution DVD, not the latest-greatest.
I think this would do it.
I think perhaps you are talking past each other. As I read from the man.page of
yum localinstall, "the enabled repositories will be used to resolve
dependencies".
Unless you have set up a yum repository from your DVD, dependencies
will be resolved from whatever networked repositories have been
enabled.
