Both drives are less than a year old; one less than 6 months. What's going
on?
Check RAM first with Memtest86 - all tests. If that passes, then check
the drive with the manufacturer's diagnostic program (and per Jim's
hint, on a known good box).
I had these errors on and off in an FC4 box for a while on a fairly new
drive. The drive tested okay with the manufacturer's diags. As in your
case the drive ran fine. Replacing the cable seemed to fix it. I had an
80-pin cable plugged in backwards (or was it bad? -I don't remember
which). 80-pin cables can't be swapped end-for-end (at least not and
work right).
