Suppose I wanted to send you $5. Must you do all the work to set up an
online PayPal account to receive $?

Perhaps there is an easier way for individual and small payments?

Not sure what you're driving at, so the following may be way off track.

Most banks will let you set up online-initiated transfers from your account to anyone else's bank account (at any other bank). You have to set it up something like 10 days in advance, though. The money transfer usually takes one day.

Another way is to make an online-initiated payment from your bank to an individual. The bank will mail out a check to the individual and address you specify.

I have done both and they can work well.
