I'm not sure but I think you'll have to go back to RH 6 for something that
installs in that little memory. Fortunately, you won't need X for a
server.

Naw, Both FC6 and F7 install fine in 256 MB RAM. I've just done it on an old PII-400 Toshiba Tecra 8000 with 256 MB and 14 GB HDD.

Fedora does run a bit faster than XP on the same unit. In fact, I replaced the XP already on it because of the horrible performance.

KDE was pretty sluggish until I knocked color resolution down to 16-bit. That made a huge difference.

Unfortunately, I'm having problems getting the ancient OPL3-sa3 sound chip to make any noise at all. So right now I'm trying the Kubuntu Feisty LiveCD to see if it is any smarter.

If no one else has 6 CDs (Carl?), I may have a set squirreled away.

My laptop is very old. It has 256 mb in RAM, and a very old cd reader

My host OS is windows XP SP2.

I'm willing to install a virtual PC, and install fedora on it, so I can
simulate a web server on it. Do you, guys think that it is going to be
possible for me?

By the way, I got a digital camera that needs a male-to-male USB cable to
connect it to the computer, and nobody at Frys know what I'm talking about
(why that doesn't surprise me?) Does anybody has a cable like this and is
able to bring it to the fest next sat?????

Thank you!!!!
