This week AT&T installed the U-Verse IPTV service and the picture quality is excellent. This is because U-Verse is a digital service. The downside is that U-verse does not offer the Padres channel. Cox cable has a exclusive contract with the Padres and they are refusing to license it to other providers. So we decided to cancel the TV portion of U-verse. So if you wish to order U-verse internet service you must order the U-verse TV service and cancel the TV portion since AT&T refuses to sell the U-verse internet service alone. The interesting thing is that when Cox re-connected the cable service it is now running through the existing Cat5 cabling that AT&T installed. AT&T also installed 2wire 3800HGV residential gateway/wireless router that splits the video and TV signal. The one big upside is that there will be no bandwidth contention from the TV service. A AT&T U-verse employee tells me that they are going to 20mpbs later on this year at no additional cost. The pricing for U-verse is very competitive since the TV and internet sevice works out to $74 a month. This the same price cable and U-verse web service combined. -- [email protected] http://www.kernel-panic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kplug-list -- [email protected] http://www.kernel-panic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kplug-list
