You don't tell us what variety of Windows you are dealing with. It probably makes a difference. I believe that there is a lot of information available on this subject either at the Lenovo/IBM web site or at the user forum site: < http://forum.thinkpads.com/ > It would be useful to examine the disk structure from outside Windows, using a live CD like GParted. The Ubuntu installer runs its own version of GParted while planning the installation, however I find that the stand-alone GParted user interface is more understandable. I have seen Windows XP Pro come with two extra secret partitions, one of them of type FAT32, and named something like xxxx_RP for Restore Partition, and the other, much smaller, type "Hidden W95 Fat32" which I don't understand yet. If you got Restore CDs with your computer then you probably don't have the Restore Partition. carl -- carl lowenstein marine physical lab u.c. san diego [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- [email protected] http://www.kernel-panic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kplug-list
