Title: Web Development Supervisor

Location: San Diego
Summary
The Web Development Supervisor will supervise a team of Web developers
to develop Websites and other Web-based technologies for
Interactivate’s clients. The Web Development Supervisor’s number one
priority is the expeditious and efficient delivery of Interactivate’s
web programming services. He/She will be responsible for the quality
and quantity of work performed by staff as well as developing and
maintaining web development standards and best-practices.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Primary responsibility is the expeditious and efficient delivery of
web programming services.
- Team with Web Development Manager to develop staff, promote
teambuilding, and improve quality of products.
- Insure coding standards, processes and procedures are adhered to by
development staff.
- Maintain internal staffing and contractor resources at appropriate
levels to meet operational needs;
- Develop action plans, timelines and budgets to achieve goals set for
you and your team;
- Maximize utilization of all resources.
- Build and maintain teamwork within the department
- Ensure all staff have tools and resources necessary to perform their
work efficiently;
- Promote and manage employee morale, motivating staff to meet or
exceed expectations;
- Maintain effective communication and teamwork with other departments
to support a team environment within the agency;
- Develop and implement procedures and guidelines to maximize quality
and efficiency of Web development services.
- Work with other department managers and staff to maintain effective
interdepartmental relationships and interactions
- Assess employee capabilities and organizational needs to identify
and recommend training for groups and individuals;
- Address customer problems or complaints as a top priority, following
up until all issues are resolved;
- Works closely with Production Manager to manage creative schedules
and priorities to ensure deliverables are on time
- Act as the Production Manager in her/his absence, balancing
workloads and monitoring production of work in progress;
- Participate in client meetings as requested, serving as a technical
lead in project development and planning;
- Assist with pricing proposed projects and services, estimating
departmental resources based on functional requirements;
- As assigned, guide the development and documentation of tools and
applications, providing support for the resale of such products to
clients.
- Develop and manage programming and documentation standards and
testing protocols
- Manages and guide development staff to continually improve overall
product quality
- Work closely with Information Technology staff, defining development
requirements for Interactivate’s development, staging and production
(hosting) environments;
- Manage utilization and maintenance of Interactivate’s source control
software;
- Maintain a working knowledge of advances and trends in programming
and technology, providing appropriate updates and recommendations to
the leadership team;
Key Partnerships
While all Interactivate team relationships are vital to the success of
the employee and the organization, the critical partners who share in
the responsibility to help this position achieve individual goals and
KPI are the roles within the team (Web Developers, Flash Developers,
and HTML Programmers)
Other General duties
- Maintain open and upbeat communications. Communicate proactively
with clients and team members, using verbal or written
communication, most effective for each situation.
- Highlight real and potential problems.
- Communicate immediately with management regarding client service or
product problems (e.g. a project is not on schedule, is over-budget,
or a Web site is not functioning properly).
- Be prepared with recommended solutions when communicating problems
internally or to clients.
Qualifications
- BA or BS in a computer-related field
- 3+ years in an application development environment with a minimum of
1 years managerial duties;
- Demonstrated programming experience (3+ years) with: PHP, ASP, C#,
VB, Perl, SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, AJAX
- Extensive experience using MySql database
- Effective leader with refined verbal, written, instructional and
analytical skills
- Working knowledge of networking technologies/ topologies
- Experience writing program documentation
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Deadline motivated work ethic and the ability to manage multiple
projects
- Experience with web publishing systems, a plus
