I recommend that readers of this list tune in (or PVR) to CBS tonight
at 8:30PM and watch "Big Bang Theory" (just before "Two and a Half
Men," with which it shares a producer and writer). It's a half hour
sitcom, new this season, that follows a pair of geeky physicist
roommates, some of their friends, and the obligatory hot blonde
across the hall.
What's refreshing is the treatment that the writers have given this
setup - it's not a 30 minute show full of HURR HURR cheap shots at
the geeks. Instead, their geek-ness is embraced, and there is no
attempt to water down concepts for the viewers. Instead, reasonably
accurate science/theory/computer talk is expertly mixed with humor
for what I've found to be hilarious results. Where else on network
television can you find a show with dialogue that jumps from MMORPG
questing to fractional T1's to string theory to the paradox of wave–
particle duality and end up with a discussion about how having curry-
based Indian food for lunch and curry-based Thai food for dinner
would be "gastronomically redundant?"
The show tonight is Episode #4, so if you wish to catch up on the
previous three you can do so for free (requires Flash, click the
"Video" link in the nav bar) at:

Enjoy!
