I've got a big ol' server that recently was taken out of production as
a Linux mail server but still has some life left in it.

When I say big I mean it - it's over 2 feet tall, durn heavy, and has
10 externally accessible 5.25" drive bays. Since it was built as a
server, the chassis has dual power supplies.
It's outfitted with an Intel STL2 server-class Pentium III motherboard
with dual 1GHz PIII CPUs and 512MB of RAM (expandable to 4GB). The
motherboard has two onboard Adaptec AIC-7899 Ultra160 SCSI
controllers. More details about this board can be found on Intel's
site:
http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/stl2/
Hanging off the SCSI bus are five 36GB Maxtor Atlas 10,000 RPM SCA
hard drives, mounted in a SuperMicro hotswap chassis (seen in the
picture). One of drives has failed, but the whole set is new enough
that they are all still under warranty through mid-2008. I did a
serial number check on Seagate's website for the failed drive and
confirmed that it is eligible for warranty replacement.... I just
haven't had time to do it yet.
It also has an Archive Python (Seagate) SCSCI DDS3 12/24GB DAT drive
model 04106-XXX. The server was moved to a disk-based backup system
about a year ago, but at the time of the switchover the DAT drive was
working. I can't imagine any reason that wouldn't remain the case,
but I don't have any DDS tapes with which to test it.
It's been a very stable server, running CentOS v4.5 as an IMAP server
for 60 employees without flaw for over three years. It's also
reasonably quiet for its size.
Price: $100
Location: South Bay or Downtown (with prior arrangement)
