This may not be your problem, but it's probably worth a reminder.. I've been puzzled by what turned out to be a loose connection that could be any of (headphone, extension cable, phone-plug). In my case, I _thought_ behavior was changing on reboot, but I suspect it was just coincidence (cable-wiggling).
