Normally your window manager has some way of grabbing windows without hitting the titlebar.

<control>-<some mouse button> or <shift+control>-<some mouse button> often does it. Also, if you have an F<digit> hotkey for Maximize, that also sometimes works (in this instance it should shrink the window to the screen size).
