Can I use lame (or some other CLI proggie) for ripping the wavs on a music CD directly to mp3s? Going through wavs via cdparanoia may be significantly increasing the time.
cdparanoia is _very_ slow, the default settings re-read the data dozens of time. This is needed for very old cdrom drives. You might try either cdparanoia '-Z' or 'cdda2wav'. 'abcde' <http://www.hispalinux.es/~data/abcde.php> is a script (sh) that combines all of the steps of ripping, encoding, looking up tracks in the freedb.org database, etc. David -- [email protected] http://www.kernel-panic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kplug-list
