It would be helpful to distribute a set of CD's like Ubuntu with also a set of
bookmarks or a browser to display a page with a list of help llnks. I am
wondering if Fry's or stores like Best Buy would be willing to accept some
Linux CD's for customers.? Or would they consider this a conflict with their
existing packaged Linux sales.?

just a guess here but I don't think George really felt that handing out just a
CD
was really all that big of a deal. If I understand what he is proposing is some
"Starter" type instructions with the CD and in a more value-added looking
configuration. Not just a CD in a cardboard CD-sleeve. Granted, those CDs
could come from Ubuntu's shipit service and repackaged but the value added
is instructions and help with using it.

That's how I read it.

Randy, you missed the the KPLUG meeting where it was discussed that the
org funds would be used to provide a public service project. We're just
discussing various project options now.
