I've done it using a MicroSDHC card plugged into my phone. I save the
pictures, etc. on the card, pull the card out, plug it into a SDHC USB
adapter, and my Linux system reads it as any other USB storage device.
The 4GB card was ~$60 at Best Buy. The adapter was about $30 (IIRC). My
phone is a LG Voyager, but many different LG phones take the same kind
of card (including my daughter's LG Env and my wife's slightly older LG
flip phone).
NOTE: A MicroSDHC card is NOT the same as a MicroSD card. They each use
a different file format. I recommend SAN Disk MicroSDHC and adapter as
the adapter will work without any drivers where other adapters may not
work at all or may require drivers.

Is there a way to get photos and videos from a (Verizon) cell phone
