So anyone with Vista should be able to use any XP CD and have a legal
system with XP replacing the Vista installation? I wonder why it takes an
arm and leg to even get a system without Vista these days if there's so
much of an 'open' license to use previous versions?

The game rules for large businesses must be far different from the SMB
market. I've heard you can get an XP 'upgrade from Vista' CD from HP
but it'll cost ya.
