With the implication that programmers who write GPL'd code don't make
a decent wage? Why do so many programmers choose to do it?

Hello, 1987? This is 2008 calling... Just wanted to let you know

President, terrorists changed the world a few years ago, and we're
nowhere near dependent on businesses to produce software. These
things may shock you, but just you wait.
