We need at least two more people to sign up to be able to make a "group
buy" of the Freerunner phones (Openmoko project phones, runs Linux, as
open and hackable as possible) and get a better price. If you would like
a Freerunner this is the best way to get one.

Hi, this is your San Diego Freerunner Group buy coordinator. July 4th is
nearly
upon us, which is the alleged date of availability. Having said that, bear in
mind
the likely demand for the device, as well as delays by FIC and shipping, etc -
i.e,
have a little patience; it's entirely possible in the worst case that it could
be some weeks before you get your device.
We're still 2 short of a group buy. Please ask your friends, workmates, etc.
I'd really rather avoid having to eBay any extra devices.
I calculate the cost of $369 + 7.75% CA Tax + $10 shipping at pennies short
of $400 each. I don't think CA recycling fee is relevant in this case since
it is too small. The intention from FIC I think is that I will have to pay
for all of it up front - I don't mind putting it on my credit card to do that,
but you'll understand to avoid interest I will need prompt payment - I can
give you my WaMu or BoA account details if that's convenient, or cash when you
pick it up. Given the amounts involved, I'd prefer to avoid accepting uncleared
checks.
