AFAIK, no... you cannot "self sponsor". And, depending on the level of the clearance, the cost can be in the thousands. Most people get clearances by joining the military. It is possible to get hired without a clearance, but it's rare... usually, "clearance required" means "If you aren't already a member of the club, take a hike". I've seen some real dolts land very cushy Federal jobs simply because they already had a clearance... the employer would rather take someone with the clearance and train them than take someone with the knowledge and go through the process to sponsor them. If you ever get a clearance, keep it current. It's frickin' gold. -- *********************************************************************** * John Oliver http://www.john-oliver.net/ * * * *********************************************************************** -- KPLUG-List@kernel-panic.org http://www.kernel-panic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kplug-list
