Thinking about it some more, if you're using a system which you suspend/resume frequently, I'd strongly suggest doing full-scale journaling for all your filesystems. Even my Mac systems sometimes fail to resume properly (okay, maybe once every 4-5 months for my personal experiences), so filesystem journaling is a good thing.
I hate to admit this, but Vista has not failed to resume once thus far. I never shut it down, I always suspend it (because it takes waaaaaay too long to shutdown and boot up), with one exception. In fact, in the first week or so I had it, I didn't even know that the button on the menu I was clicking was suspend and not shutdown (the shutdown button is hidden).
The exception is when there are Windows updates that need to be installed, in which case I make sure I have lots of time to wait for the computer to shutdown and reboot again (because it takes at least 20 mins every time.)
