Yes. The library blocks a number of outgoing ports besides ssh. See last month's thread titled "San Diego Public Library - Preventor of Information Technology?" http://www.kernel-panic.org/pipermail/kplug-list/2008-July/102782.html.

True, but not pertinent to this discussion. Those links don't say anything out outgoing ssh access, which they've been blocking for as long as I've had a laptop with wireless. They just say you can use the wireless to access the "web". I.E. port 80 and 443.


I'm looking at openvpn, perhaps on port 443, as a possible solution.
