They are actually doing some pretty cool stuff in perl 6 such as taking some key ideas from the functional programming world such as lazy evaluation. I also like the fact that rakudo runs on the parrot interpreter. A general purpose bytecode interpreter that you can compile your preferred language to sounds like a very good idea. Sort of a like what the java virtual machine was supposed to be but using modern techniques and less corporate meddling.
