It looks like Chrome was created from the ground up with a completely
different design than modern browsers have (the largest of which is
process independence for individual tabs). While I'm sure Firefox will
implement what ideas they can, and Chrome is explicitly inviting
others to do so, the sort of full-scale rewrite on which Google has
based the new browser inevitably requires a new project to be
implemented fully and accurately.
