To all:

I am trying to compile the Gtk+ ver 2.4.14 library
(ftp://ftp.gtk.org/pub/gtk/v2.4) which also needs ATK-1.8.0, GLIB-2.4.8 and
PANGO-1.4.1 with also support from the pkgconfig-0.15.0, jpegsrc.v6,
tiff-v3.6.1 and libpng-1.2.7 libraries.

I've put all these source into a location of /source/{put_source_here}

but when attempting to build them, the makefiles blow up. It appears that the
builders of GTK+ wanted all the builds in the same directory?

Has anyone successfully rebuilt the GTK+ library? Is there a specific build
shell for all this?

The GTK+ upgrade is needed so that the sound editor snd-7 will build
correctly, as my system only has the GTK ver 1 library, and snd wants at
least ver 2.0.
